The Republic of Kazakhstan is a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization / 16.02.1993 /, and joined to the World Copyright Convention / 1995 /, the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works / 1998 / and has also ratified the WIPO Copyright Treaty / 2004 /.

KazAK is guided by the provisions of the said treaties and the requirements CISAC in its international activities.

Founded in 1926, the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) is the world’s leading network of authors’ societies with 239 members in 121 countries that represents 4 million creators from all geographic areas and artistic repertoires: music, audiovisual, drama, literature and visual arts. Royalties collected and distributed by CISAC member societies represented 9.2 billion euro worldwide in 2016.

A non-governmental , not-for-profit confederation, CISAC protects the rights and promotes the interests of creators. The confederation ensures that creators are represented in legal and policy forum worldwide. CISAC also enable authors ‘societies (i/e.collective management organization) to collect and distribute royalties accurately on behalf of authors for the use of their works globally.

It also assists its members business operations through a range of services including legal, policy, technology, governance and IT CISAC is headquartered in France and has four regional offices in Africa, Latin America, Caribbean Asia-Pacific and Europe.

The protection of property rights of foreign authors is provided under bilateral agreements on reciprocal representation of the interests of the authors.

KazAK signed 141 bilateral agreements with foreign societies for public, mechanical and grand rights in 2015, thereby represents interests of authors from 141 countries worldwide in the territory of Kazakhstan.
